Win tickets to Julie & Julia movie

396x287

TTo celebrate the launch of Julie and Julia I’m giving away ten double passes for the film – 5 double passes for the sneak preview weekend coming up this 3 to 4 October. And 5 double passes for the theatrical season which starts on October 8.

The story is compelling, adapted from the book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, which came from her blog which she started back in 2002. It’s probably the dream of every food blogger but one few of use will realise.

Those really were the early days of blogging and before, I think, any had started in Australia. There are now about nearly 600 food blogs in Australia alone, at last count split: General Australia 57 food blogs; Tasmania 11 food blogs; Vic 227 food blogs; ACT 14 food blogs; NSW 171 food blogs; Qld 40 food blogs; NT: 1 food blog; WA: 37 food blogs; SA 29 food blogs.

All you have to do is answer this question in comments detailing, which tickets you would like – sneak preview or theatrical release:

How many food blogs are there in Australia?

I’ll announce the sneak preview winners this Thursday and the general release winners at the weekend.

    587 food blogs – wow!

    General release tickets, thanks.

(Wouldn’t have access to all the links to food blogs, without this comp – well done and thanks!)

There are nearly 600 food blogs… but only one that counts! (Will flattery help?)
General release tickets would be fantastic – having read the book I am so curious to see how the movie turns out!

587 seems to be the prevailing opinion. The more correct answer, however, is 586. Mine keeps getting counted even though it’s more of a juvenile whinge about public transport policy with the occasional mention of Andrew McConnell.

Looks like there are already enough takers, but why waste proficiency with a calculator? I’m going with the suggested 587… but different sampling techniques and protocols might yield higher or lower numbers. Food blog? Or blog that mentions food?

If any tix are still available… I’ll attend either session and happily sit between a fat middle aged couple that talks and a teenage date making out. (Ok, not happily…)

Around 600 food blogs, growing in numbers, after Masterchef Australia. I wanna watch the whole movie, so theatre tickets please! A single pass will do since the villain from my blog is recuperating from his recent tube feeds and gourmet liquid meals at hospital. I promise not to bring the 2-minute Noodle Cook and repeat the missing pot fiasco as seen on national TV….

Nearly 600 food blogs… or 587 going by the totals you listed! I’m sure it would have grown at least one since the list was compiled!

Would love to win tickets to the sneak peek!

587 food blogs, that’s nearly 600 :) . Sneak preview this weekend would be nice (off to New York the following week for holiday so would miss the general screenings…wonder how many food blogs there are in the US?)

I would be delighted to either see the sneak preview this weekend or the theatrical season starting 8th October 2009. There are at least 530 blogs close to 600 in Australia.

587 foodie websites in Australia. Victoria has the most – does that make us the most food-obsessed state?

Hey Tom, there are 587 blogs currently in Oz! Good to see Vic is leading the pack…

Thanks for the help with the answer to the foodquiz on the weekend, I owe you a coffee, and thanks for the heads up on Coffee Supreme on twitter….you sound like a coffee snob like me. I am partial to the BC blend from St Ali in my Atomic at home

    Hi there!

I am so excited about this movie and chance to win! My name is Julie and my friend Julia gave me the book ‘Julie and Julia’ for my birthday 2 years ago (true story). This Saturday 3 October is Julia’s birthday and I had promised her that ‘we – aka Julie and Julia’ would go see the Julie and Julia movie in celebration of her big day.

So I really do hope I am lucky enough to win the 2 free passes (so I can treat her to lunch or dinner as well!)

The answer is ‘almost 600′ but in counting up the BLOGS is more specifically 587 (at your last count!)

If I (we) win, then I’d love the tickets for this weekend if there happens to be a daytime session on Saturday 3rd. If not (ie. it’s only Saturday evening/Sunday) then I’d like the general theatrical release tickets please.

Thanks so much – have a great day!

    Julie…..and Julia :)
    (yes, seriously! hehe)

As many people before me have said, there are 587 (nearly 600) food blogs in Australia. But if the question was “How many food blogs are there in Australia, worth reading?” then the answer is ONLY ONE ;-)
Would love tickets to the General release EC.

“nearly 600″ or 587 according to the above comments which apparently used a calculator .
Sneak preview of film would be great, but general release is fine if there are any left.

Thanks for your blog, I’m a country woman so you keep me in touch with what’s happening in the the foodie world. It’s fine to grow my own when I’m home, where there is a vast collection of cookbooks including classics; but it’s exciting to read about decent food (and coffee) in restaurants and cafes, and then to explore some of the places you describe when I come to town.

I love it when Tomato arrives on my desktop.

    Cheers,
    Wendy

    Take 2 –

I had to sit down over a good eggs Benedict at Dukes Coffee to do my research for this one but just as a wild guess I would say there would be
about 600 in Australia alone, and at last count the split would be: General Australia 57 food blogs; Tasmania 11 food blogs; Vic 227 food blogs; ACT 14 food blogs; NSW 171 food blogs; Qld 40 food blogs; NT: 1 food blog; WA: 37 food blogs; SA 29 food blogs.

My partner and I are free for lunch and a movie anytime this weekend and a free movie pass means we can up the ante for the choice of dining location…

Love your work, hope to hear from you Thursday!

Well Ed, I was wrong – this beats the macca challenge!

    Hope things are working existentially.

Thanks for the bbq – waiting for the warm weather.

Added another blog to the Victorian list – so when Anna check things there will be at least 588.

PS Jurgen – don’t think you have a guernsey – may wish to add yourself to the list – http://australianfoodblogs.wordpress.com/about/

Saw the movie on Sunday night with the inclusive bouef bourguinon and after it hits general public there may well be thousands of food bloggers. Maybe they can do Margaret Fulton’s Cookbook in 365 days.
