The stress and sex of the kitchen

Apparently most chefs are at it not just Gordon Ramsay. The Times in London reports:

“Close working relationships are formed in the intense kitchen environment, while partners are often neglected at home, unable to understand the stresses and strains of the job. This goes some way in explaining a Time Out survey of New York chefs published this month, in which 50 per cent admitted they had “nailed a front of house” – sex with someone from the restaurant. And 69 per cent of those said the lovemaking took place at work.”

The Times goes on list Rick Stein, who split from wife after an affair with a Sydney woman 20 years his junior and the thrice-married Marco Pierre White, who claims to have had sex with a customer between courses at Harveys.( I was surprised they left out Shannon Bennett’s mentor John Burton-Race’s recent affair.)

I’m familiar with the rumours about Ramsay on visits to Australia several years ago. And when I was recently in London the rumour was that Ramsay was gay or bisexual at least. The idea was that Tana’s recent book Tana Ramsay’s Family Kitchen was a deal put together to placate her.

What I can’t believe is that Ramsay went for Jeffrey Archer’s sloppy seconds. Could it be misdirection?
