Five things to eat before you die

foodbloggersguidetotheglobe

I’ve been tagged by Cucina Rebecca in Sydney to join the “Five things to eat before you die” meme. Devised by The Travellers Lunchbox, as I write this there are 103 entries, that’s 515 dishes.
I know what I don’t want to eat and that’s hospital food.
I’ve had this big plan just in case some dreadful disease decided to take me. It’s extreme ski-ing. Picking a steep couloir, with the big crevasse at the bottom, I would strap on my long skis and go for it – after a couple of grappa.
The older I get the less fit I become, so there’s a fair chance this will finish me off.
In reality people, family and good friends, are probably more important than the meal. That said, they could video my death.
This is the last meal before that fateful ski-ing trip, probably based in Courmayer or Chamonix (Mount Bulla’s patch of man-made snow wouldn’t quite be the same). It’s five of my favourite things.

1. A single slice of fresh sauteed prepared foie gras. Contraversial I know, but it is the creamiest smoothest most delicious food on the planet – for now – and I am meant to be dieing (or is that dieting?)

2. A seared scallop, diver caught, fresh out of the sea on the west coast of Scotland.

3. Simply poached sewin that’s a Welsh for sea trout, served with hollandaise and rock samphire. Ideally, I’d have caught the fish myself.

4. Summer pudding made with ripe organic fruit. With cream.

5. A single marron glacé.

Now I tag five other blogs. Let’s see if this lot join in: Confessions of a food nazi, Sarah Cooks, Noodlepie, Rambling Moo and Veggie Friendly.
